Research shows students who attend PASS five or more times in a semester significantly increase their chances of passing.
PASS is a FREE academic support program for students. The highly successful program operates in universities across Australia and commenced at JCU in 2014 in selected subjects.
PASS provides a casual, friendly and active learning environment where students can work together to better understand the content and learning objectives for a subject. The study sessions focus on integrating course content (what to learn) with academic reasoning and study skills (how to learn).
Students who consistently attend PASS sessions are shown to attain higher results than those who do not participate.
Participating in PASS will help students to:
- Improve marks and overall academic performance
- Save time because they will study more effectively
- Understand subject content more deeply
- Develop closer relationships with other students
- Develop teamwork and communication skills
It's never too late to join a PASS group. No registration is necessary:
- Check the timetable at When is PASS? to find session details
- Turn up
- Add your name to the attendance sheet
PASS generally commences in Week 2. If you are unsure, check with your lecturer, or contact the Pass Supervisor by email (Contact Pass Townsville or Contact Pass Cairns).
Contact a PASS Supervisor:
Dr Maria Pappalardo Maria coordinates the PASS program, and works across all JCU colleges to support undergraduate students. Availability: Monday and Tuesday 9.00am-12.30pm Wednesday and Thursday 9.00am-2pm For more information about PASS : Contact Pass Townsville |
Gemma Knox Gemma Knox facilitates the PASS (Peer Assisted Study Sessions) program based in Cairns (Nguma-bada Campus).
